In the round of 16, the Super Eagles of Nigeria faced the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon. Ademola Lookman’s brace helped Nigeria win after a ferocious 90 minutes of play.
Although Osimhen was not on the scoresheet that day, his performance was praised by a lot of Nigerians. Many believed that it was his performance that inspired the Nigerian side to victory.
Throughout the game, Osimhen was a threat to the Cameroon defence, and was chasing every ball tirelessly. In one of those instances, he chased down a Cameroonian player and dispossessed him of the ball, and from there he passed the ball to Lookman, who then found the back of the net for the opening goal.
Throughout the game, Osimhen was all over the pitch and did not show any sign of fatigue.
According to Vanguard, his tireless performance did not go unnoticed by CAF, as they have picked him for a random drug test, to ensure that Osimhen was not on drugs ahead of the game.
It should be noted that even though the test is usually carried out for all the players ahead of a game, a player can also be picked for a random drug test if the football body suspects any behaviour that is not normal in a player.
The development has been attracting mixed reactions from members of the public, and many have taken to the comments section to share their views on it. They are hoping that CAF will not find anything incriminating on Osimhen after the test. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
