Khamenei emphasized Hezbollah’s role in safeguarding Lebanon from what he described as the “greed of the Zionist regime,” which aims to destabilize the country.
According to Times of Israel, his comments follow Hezbollah’s announcement of the deaths of key leaders, including Hashem Safieddine, expected to succeed Hassan Nasrallah, killed in separate Israeli airstrikes.
On the international front, French President Emmanuel Macron hosted a conference in Paris, where $800 million in humanitarian aid for Lebanon was pledged.
Macron called for an immediate ceasefire and urged Hezbollah to halt its provocations.
He reminded Israel that past military successes in Lebanon do not guarantee a strategic victory.
Iran’s support for Hezbollah has been a cornerstone of its foreign policy since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, reflecting its opposition to Israel.
