Speaking at a campaign event in Ondo State, Makinde stated that the people of the region made a costly mistake in 2023 by supporting the APC and President Bola Tinubu but have since grown disillusioned due to the economic hardships and challenges caused by the party’s leadership.

Makinde, who also serves as the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West, declared that the Yoruba people have become wiser and are ready to chart a different electoral path. He emphasized that the upcoming Ondo State governorship election on November 16, 2024, would be a decisive turning point.

“The people of the South-West of Nigeria are wiser,” Makinde said. “In Ondo State, on November 16, they will make a bold statement and show that the South-West is for the PDP.”

His remarks came in response to recent comments by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, who expressed confidence that the region would continue to support the APC in the future. Makinde dismissed Ganduje’s optimism, labeling it as empty rhetoric.

“Talk is cheap,” Makinde said. “You can say whatever you like, but the people of Ondo State will speak loud and clear on November 16, 2024, and everyone in this country will hear it.”

Makinde’s statements underline the PDP’s determination to regain influence in the South-West, a region that heavily supported the APC in the last general elections.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
