Rumors are circulating that Wike plans to select people from Rivers State to these positions, which Senator Kingibe said in an interview with Channels TV would be unjust to the FCT. She voiced concern that appointees from outside the Federal Capital Territory might not have the necessary historical background of the area for efficient governance. She underlined that the FCT is distinct and needs officials who are aware of its particular difficulties.
In Senator Kingibe’s words: “Word on the street is Wike wants to bring people from Rivers and make them perm sec here in FCT. That would be unfair to the FCT because they wouldn’t have any historical knowledge of the places. FCT is not like everywhere else. That is the truth, but he is the minister”.
