Why Chelsea will play Wimbledon on Wednesday in the second round of the EFL

After winning their opening match of the season, Chelsea football club will be in action this midweek when they host league two side Wimbledon to Stamford Bridge for the round of the EFL cup (Carabao cup). Along with Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea will be the two largest teams competing in this round of matches. Round two is only for clubs that aren’t participating in any European competitions this year.

According to X pictures, Chelsea will meet Wimbledon on Wednesday in round two of the EFL Cup.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are participating in this round of the competition after they were unable to advance to either the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, or Europa Conference League last season.

Only after the following phase will teams like Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Aston Villa enter the competition.
