What I Told the Igbos Following Amaechi's Declaration That They Would Receive the Property and Homes They Lost During the War - WikeIn a press conference with journalists, Governor Nyesom Wike stated that before the recently concluded governor’s race in Rivers, his predecessor, former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, promised to return to Igbos in the state the homes and other property they lost during the Biafran war in exchange for their support of the APC candidate, Tonye Cole, to win the race.

Governor Wike claims that after Amaechi’s promise to Igbos in Rivers, he met with them and advised them to question Amaechi about why he failed to give them their properties back while he was the state’s governor. Not everybody will understand this, I went back to them and told them ‘ask him, you were Governor for eight years why didn’t you remember these abandoned properties?
