Bobrisky had previously been sentenced to six months in prison by a Lagos Federal High Court for Naira abuse in April. He was released on August 5 after serving his sentence. However, the viral audio suggests that he was involved in more serious charges, which were allegedly dropped due to the bribe.
The audio also claims that Bobrisky served his prison sentence in a flat near the prison after receiving help from a mentor, a claim that contradicts Bobrisky’s own statement.
Bobrisky has firmly denied these allegations, stating that the viral audio is fake and insisting that he did not bribe any EFCC official. He also maintained that he served his sentence in prison, not in a flat.
The EFCC has taken the matter seriously, with spokesman Dele Oyewale announcing that a team of investigators is looking into the allegations. Both Bobrisky and Martins Otse have been asked to assist in the investigation.
The controversy has taken an even more intriguing turn with the mention of rapper Falz in the viral audio. It was claimed that Falz’s father, Femi Falana, helped Bobrisky seek a pardon from the presidency for N10 million. However, Falz has vehemently denied these allegations, describing them as false and defamatory. He revealed that Bobrisky had asked him for financial help, but he refused.
The Federal Government has responded to the allegations by ordering an investigation into the Nigerian Correctional Service over bribery and corruption claims. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, has reiterated a zero-tolerance policy for corruption within the service and has called for a special investigative team to probe the allegations and submit a comprehensive report.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
