In an interview with Laolu Akande for Channels Television’s Inside Sources, Adebanjo stressed how President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, lost the chance to support federalism in 1999.
He suggested that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is now in a position of power, should rectify past mistakes by initiating the rewriting of the 1999 Constitution. Adebanjo highlighted that Tinubu and other South-West governors backed down from demanding a Sovereign National Conference after the military regime’s transition to democracy in 1999.
He urged Tinubu to lead the effort in drafting a new constitution that reflects the will of the people, addressing the flaws of the current “military-imposed constitution.”
He (Adebanjo), believes that a new constitution, agreed upon by Nigerians, would alleviate various national challenges, including insecurity, by allowing for the establishment of state police. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
