He stressed that the popularity of the candidate factors in every election. He declared outrightly that he had backed Candidates across party lines since the PDP itself is in tatters and it required a renewal. According to him, the PDP party leaders were aware that the party would lose the general election, but they chose to support the candidate anyway.
He said,
”I am a clear personality, what is PDP? What is APC? What is a party that I cannot use to win election? What is a party that does not keep to its constitution and is suspending it members? It’s not a secret that we concocted the votes that helped Asiwaju to win massively in Ekiti state. This is a public place, I’m not hiding it.
I supported Asiwaju, I supported Sanwo-Olu, I supported Seyi Makinde in Oyo. It’s a small boy that can be denying facts. What is PDP? I won the election for PDP as Ekiti governor. Sometimes a platform is good but the popularity of the candidate matters more. At my time when I was contesting an election in Ekiti, I defeated the incumbent. PDP thrived under me and not me thriving under PDP.”
