Ahmadu Fintiri, the governor of Adamawa State, expressed regret about election fraud after state resident electoral commissioner Barrister Hudu Yunusa pronounced the vote inconclusive.
According to Fintiri, Aishatu Binani, a candidate for the All Progressive Congress, could never have won the election based on the Fufore findings. He claimed that with more than 35,000 votes, he was already cruising to victory….. Continue Reading
On the other hand, he claimed that the REC exerted pressure on the returning officer to ensure Binani’s victory in the local government through rigged results. He claims that the PDP agents in Fufore quickly discovered the plot when they asked to utilize the findings that had been submitted to the IReV to compile a new summary results sheet. According to him, Binani won in Fufore, but it wasn’t enough to give her the election.
He said:
”I think the inconclusive declaration was because of the inexperience and mindset of the REC. He misled the returning officer, there was no need for it. I was leading with over 35,000 votes which is enough to get me declared as the winner. We saw that in Ogun, Kaduna, and several states.
If you go to fufore, there is a ward there and there are 103 registered votes in that unit. Less than 30 people voted in that place but there was overcoming and it was canceled. There is a PU0017 and it was concluded even on IReV. And there was no overcoming and there was no issue.
And so you begin to wonder what the REC is after, this is a man that called the returning officer of Fufore and told him to make sure Binani wins. He said it was an order from above and nothing had happened to him. With the kind of integrity, INEC has built over the years. I think such a man should not be allowed to continue.”…
