He clarified that the former governor is a long-time friend and ally, and these visits were simply a result of their close relationship. He also pointed out that many other politicians, including prominent members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), have visited the SDP’s National Secretariat.
He brushed off claims that El Rufai’s visits are part of a plan to form a political alliance between him and the SDP, intending to run for president.
He also expressed his disappointment in those who are creating unnecessary controversies around these visits.
He stressed that, as career politicians, he and El Rufai understand the difference between personal relationships and political interests. And their relationship goes beyond any political ambitions or associations.
Furthermore, he emphasized that he would not be part of any action that could harm the stability of Nigeria. He acknowledged that President Bola Tinubu inherited a collapsing system and needed support and guidance from experienced politicians like himself and El Rufai to steer the country in the right direction.
