According to a report by Punch, the grand ceremony took place at an exhibition center in Diamniadio, where Faye was sworn in as president in the presence of numerous officials and dignitaries from across Africa.
Upon his return to Dakar, his motorcade was greeted by enthusiastic residents celebrating his presidency, underscoring the sense of hope and optimism associated with his leadership.
As a symbol of the peaceful transfer of power, Faye’s predecessor, Macky Sall, handed him the key to the presidential headquarters before departing from the palace.
In his solemn oath-taking ceremony, Faye pledged his dedication to serving the Senegalese people and upholding the duties of the presidency.
Shortly after being sworn in, Faye’s administration wasted no time in announcing the appointment of the fiery opposition leader, Ousmane Sonko, as the new prime minister.
