It is important to remember that in October 2022, the Labour Party suspended Eragbe for six months due to misconduct. The party then declared in April 2023 that he was seriously compromised and could not represent the party’s interests. Eragbe lost his right to speak on the party’s behalf as a result.
During his interview with The Cable, Eragbe expressed his lack of surprise at Obi’s silence, attributing it to Abure, who he claims orchestrated his suspension as the party’s national youth leader. Eragbe pointed out Obi’s silence on both the attack and his suspension, stating, “Since 29th of December till date, I have not seen anywhere Peter Obi made a statement concerning my attack.” He expected someone of his stature to have been informed if Obi had made any such statement.
