After looking over the committee’s membership list, Sani claimed to have discovered that some of the members were “economic parasites” and “hyenas” who contributed to the nation’s financial issues.
The outspoken activist, who is known for his vocal opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), did not mention any names but implied that some of the committee members were responsible for the worsening economic conditions in the country. He said they should be removed from the committee and replaced with people who have the interest of the masses at heart.
“I’ve gone through the list of the economic team. I’ve seen the names of some economic parasites that are part of the economic problem of the country. They have brought in some hyenas to protect our meat. They should be removed,” Sani tweeted on Monday.
The economic advisory committee, which was inaugurated by Tinubu last week, comprises 12 members drawn from various sectors of the economy. They include the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Charles Soludo, the Director-General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Segun Ajayi-Kadir, the Chairman of Zenith Bank, Jim Ovia, and the founder of Flutterwave, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji.
Tinubu said the committee was set up to advise him on how to implement his economic agenda, which he said was aimed at creating jobs, reducing poverty, and diversifying the economy.
