Recall that Nyesom Wike, who is a Governor under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party supported Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the last presidential election. He and other four Governors in the PDP opposed the presidential ambition of the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress won the recently-conducted presidential election by defeating other strong contenders in the race including Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party. The candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party and that of the Labour Party are currently challenging the victory of the President-elect in Court. They claimed that the presidential election results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC were manipulated in favour of the former Governor of Lagos State.
Bayo Onanuga while reacting to question about if Tinubu will appoint Wike as Minister said; “I don’t know; I can’t say anything about that. I don’t know what the president- elect is thinking. Maybe when he returns I will ask whether he wants to bring non-APC members into his government. There are ways he can collaborate with others, not just by appointments.”
