After much back and forth with the election, the INEC Returning Officer declared Labour Party candidate Alex Otti as the governor elect of Abia state with 175,467 votes, defeating his close rival from the PDP with votes 88,529 during the governorship and state assembly election that took place across 28 states in the nation over the weekend.

“I shall stand squarely unapologetically on these principles. Therefore, the people’s votes and mandates shall stand and the Pastor in me, the mother in me, also will not permit me to do anything that would affect the future of our children. I shall do right by God and by man”.
