The World Trade Organization’s director general, Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, shared photos from today’s (March 22, 2024) General Council meeting on social media.
Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala complimented His Excellency Athaliah Molokomme, the Botswana ambassador, who was the immediate past chair of the General Council, for her successful first year in service in a tweet. She described her time as GC Chairperson as energetic, funny, and intelligent. She went on to explain that working with her to achieve some noteworthy results had been a pleasure.
The statement went thus;
“At our @wto General Council meeting today we celebrated a year of very successful chairing of the GC by my sister HE Ambassador @almolokomme of Botswana. Brilliant, witty and effervescent it was a real pleasure to work with her and deliver some important results at MC13. Thanks so much for your wise and patient service. And welcome to our new GC chair Ambassador @PetterOlberg of Norway. Look forward to our delivering together!”
The WTO Director-General did not forget to welcome the new General Council Chair, Peter Olberg, the Ambassador of Norway and stated that she is looking forward to their delivering together.
