Philip Shaibu:”I am Not INEC; I Hear the IReV Number Differs from the Final Vote”

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, makes it clear that he is not connected to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and that he is unable to comment on any discrepancies that may exist between the official vote tallies and the IReV figure. He makes the observation that Governor Obaseki, whom he is familiar with, is not one to concede an easy win and usually obeys court judgments that serve his interests.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Shaibu also mentions that he was at his polling unit all day during the recent election and confirms that his vote was counted correctly, as reflected in INEC’s announcements.

He stated this in an interview with Arise TV.

In his words, First, I am not INEC. I am hearing from you that the IReV number is different from the eventual vote. That is not my take to answer because I am not INEC, but let me tell you one thing: the Obaseki that I have worked with and that I know will not accept defeat; if it is not winning, he will not accept that. That is the kind of person, and it has shown in his character.”

“There are 92 court orders that he has refused to obey, but any one that favours him, that is the one he would implement, so somebody that will not obey court order except the one that favours him, when an election like this takes place, obviously he will not accept because that is his character. The issue of IReV and number is for INEC to explain because you are telling me, I am not sure, I don’t know, but what I know is that I was in my polling unit from morning to night and I voted, and it was counted, and the vote counted because the result that was counted in my unit was the result that INEC announced.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
