Aguocha acknowledged the widespread speculation regarding Kanu’s well-being, including claims that he was gravely ill or had died in custody. To address these fears, he met with the DSS Director-General to verify the situation. During the meeting, the DSS assured Aguocha that Kanu was alive, in good health, and receiving proper medical care.
In a significant development, Aguocha revealed that the DSS had extended unprecedented healthcare privileges to Kanu. According to the legislator, Kanu was permitted to select his physician and receive treatment at a medical facility of his choice, even outside government-operated institutions. This marks a departure from standard detention protocols, signaling a more flexible approach to Kanu’s care.
“It was rumored that Kanu was dead, and it was also rumored that he was gravely ill,” Aguocha explained. “I asked the DG [of DSS], and for the first time, they allowed Nnamdi Kanu to choose a doctor of his own choice. He was also permitted to select a medical facility outside government institutions for his treatment. Nnamdi Kanu has exercised that privilege.”
Aguocha emphasized that these measures demonstrate efforts by the DSS to address concerns surrounding Kanu’s well-being, reassuring the public of his current health status. He also urged people to refrain from spreading unverified information that could heighten tensions.
Kanu’s detention has remained a focal point of public discourse and legal challenges, with his supporters continuously advocating for his release. Aguocha’s disclosure provides rare transparency into the conditions of Kanu’s custody and the government’s handling of his health.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
