Nigerian government approves Abia’s Modular Refinery

The Federal government of Nigeria has approved the establishment of a Modular Refinery to be cited inside the Abia State Industrial and Innovation Park (AIIP) zone of the State.

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti said this on Tuesday while officially flagging-off the reconstruction of the 11.1 kilometres Obehie – Umudobia – Owaza road in Ukwa West LGA.

He said that significant changes would occur in the area after the completion of the road as dormant economic assets would be revived and new ones established.

“I will like to inform you that just a few days ago, we got the good news that the Federal Government has approved a modular refinery which would be cited inside the AIIP,” he stated.

He lamented that the people of the oil-producing local government had suffered untold neglect in area of development, but declared that the neglect was over.

Governor Otti, who promised to solve perennial power supply crisis in the area within one month, directed the Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Ikechukwu Monday, to swing into action by visiting the Asa community.

He further said that his administration was collaborating extensively with Abia State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, ASOPADEC) Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, and other interventionist establishments to restore the years that were lost to politics of exclusion.
