Negative news lowers our spirits - Army

In a meeting with the executive members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ondo State chapter, in Akure, Brig Gen Adamu appealed to the media in the country to adopt a fair, objective, and factual approach when covering military operations.

During the meeting, Adamu emphasised that negative media coverage has a demoralising impact on military personnel.

He urged journalists to prioritise accuracy in their reports without compromising national security.

Recognising the crucial role of journalism as a fact-checking body, the commander called for support and encouragement from Nigerians.

Assuring the public, Adamu stated that the army is actively collaborating with other security agencies to safeguard the country and its citizens.

He expressed admiration for the active role played by women journalists in the state and acknowledged their efforts in amplifying the voices of women and ensuring their concerns are heard.

He further assured the association of the unwavering support of the Army.

Earlier, Tola Gbadamosi, the chairperson of Ondo NAWOJ, sought the brigade’s support and cooperation to foster a harmonious working relationship.
