Matawalle made these statements in response to alleged attempts by some politicians to undermine President Tinubu’s leadership, citing his style of governance.

Some northern leaders have been realigning politically ahead of the 2027 election.

The latest meeting involved former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai.

In Zamfara State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is experiencing internal conflict.

Over the weekend, Senator Kabiru Marafa declared the revival of his faction.

Matawalle, the immediate past governor of Zamfara State, addressed this issue.

Reacting to moves to unseat Tinubu by Northern politicians, Matawalle described such attempts as “mere power play by unpatriotic politicians with an entitlement mentality.”

According to a statement by Mr. Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Public Relations in the Ministry of Defence, Matawalle reiterated that the alleged move by some selfish politicians is “just mere power play by some unpatriotic northern politician without a grassroots base.”
