Some Nigerian politicians have no regard for the people who voted them into office. Instead of helping the country, some of them use public money, which is supposed to make life better for everyone, for themselves.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
This means that instead of using money to build schools, hospitals, and roads, they spend it on things that only benefit them.
Many Nigerians feel disappointed because these politicians often break promises and don’t work to make the country better, even though that’s what they were elected to do.
Here are 5 politicians who do not deserve to be in power.
1. Alex Ikwechegh
Senator Alexander Mascot Ikwechegh, who represents Abia, was recently accused of attacking a delivery driver in Abuja.
The incident happened when the delivery driver arrived at Ikwechegh’s house to deliver a package and called him to come outside to pick it up.
Ikwechegh felt insulted, thinking it was rude for the driver to ask him to come out to collect the package.
Ikwechegh’s response was extreme: he allegedly slapped the driver several times, tore his shirt, and broke his phone.
He even warned the driver that “nothing will happen” because of his political connections, implying he could avoid punishment.
He then had the driver arrested, and the man’s car was taken by the police. While some people thought the delivery driver should have brought the package to the door, many were shocked by the senator’s violent reaction.
2. Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo
Senator Elisha Abbo, from Adamawa, has also made headlines for his behavior. In 2019, a video surfaced showing Abbo slapping a woman multiple times at a store, even though his police guard was there watching.
Despite this, he remained in the Senate, which angered many Nigerians.
Recently, Abbo was also accused of appearing in an inappropriate video with a woman.
He denied it, demanding an apology and threatening to take action if he didn’t get one. Many people feel he should show more respect and self-control as a public official.
3. Nyesom Wike
Nyesom Wike, a former governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is known for speaking his mind—often too bluntly.
In a recent video, he spoke rudely to people who came to meet him, saying, “Are they stupid? You are not doing anyone a favor by being Minister!”
His harsh words made people feel disrespected and criticized for simply trying to talk to him about their concerns.
4. Godswill Akpabio
Senate President Godswill Akpabio upset many Nigerians with his comments about an upcoming protest.
During a speech, he mentioned that while Nigerians protested about tough economic times, he and other lawmakers would be “eating.”
People saw this as insensitive since many Nigerians are struggling with high costs of living.
Another time, he interrupted Senator Natasha, telling her she couldn’t speak without being invited, adding,
“This is not a nightclub.” Many felt this was a disrespectful way to speak to a fellow senator.
5. Femi Fani-Kayode
In 2020, former Minister Femi Fani-Kayode spoke harshly to a journalist during a press event in Calabar.
When the journalist politely asked who was sponsoring Fani-Kayode’s “Good Governance Tour,” Fani-Kayode became angry, calling the journalist “very stupid” and scolding him in front of everyone.
This incident went viral, and many Nigerians were disappointed in his unprofessional and disrespectful behavior toward a member of the press. Later, he apologized, admitting he was wrong.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
