Former President Muhammadu Buhari did not back President Bola Tinubu in the 2022 All Progressives Congress presidential primary, according to Jimoh Ibrahim, the senator for the Ondo South Senatorial District.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

He made this known in an interview with Channels TV, while responding to former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi’s recent remark that if the opposition believes Tinubu will hand over power to them, they are wasting their time. Amaechi made this statement at a two-day National Conference on Strengthening Democracy in Nigeria.

Jimoh Ibrahim recalled that before the party primaries, there were claims that Amaechi was the likely winner. He, however, questioned the actual votes Amaechi received, highlighting that despite expectations, Tinubu emerged victorious by relying on data science. Ibrahim emphasized that Buhari did not support Tinubu at the primaries. He clarified that a lack of support does not equate to betrayal, but could simply mean a difference in preference.

He said, “Amaechi, didn’t he contest election as president? What was the vote he collected? But that time, they said he was going to win. What was the vote? Tinubu came with data, we used data science to win that election? Did Buhari support Tinubu at the primaries? I’m telling you clearly that he didn’t support him.
