Police officers from the Ekeki Divisional Police Headquarters were able to detain the culprit, who has been identified as Lucky Okubo. During the course of the interrogation, Lucky admitted that he had intentionally brought the deceased woman, Shallon Ebitare, to the hotel with the aim of engaging in sexual relations with her. It is his assertion that she fell and lost consciousness when she was in the toilet.
After that, the young lady was transported to the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa by the suspect, who had previously called the hotel management for assistance. Regrettably, a physician who was on duty at the hospital confirmed that she had passed away. Investigations are still being conducted to identify the cause of death, and the suspect is currently being kept in jail at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yenagoa.
