In a deal valued at over ₦59 billion, Chukwunonso Madueke consents to join Newcastle United.

According to Soccernet, Chukwunonso Madueke, a winger for Chelsea, has agreed to accept a contract worth over ₦59 billion (£29 million) to join Newcastle United in a major transfer. Madueke, who arrived at Chelsea in January 2023 from PSV Eindhoven, showed glimpses of his talent last season, scoring six goals and providing two assists in 29 appearances. However, he only started 17 of those games, playing second fiddle to Cole Palmer.

Newcastle United, under the management of Eddie Howe, has offered Madueke a fresh start and a chance to thrive. The Magpies are expected to match the fee Chelsea paid for Madueke’s services last year, making it a significant investment in the young winger.

Madueke’s decision to join Newcastle may also have implications for his international career. Eligible to represent both Nigeria and England, Madueke has already featured for England from U16 to U21 level and won the UEFA European Under-21 Championship. However, with his path to the England senior team complicated, Madueke may consider representing Nigeria, where he can find a smoother route to the Super Eagles squad.

The transfer is expected to be finalized soon, with Madueke currently with Chelsea on their pre-season tour of the USA. His addition to the Newcastle squad will undoubtedly strengthen their attacking options and provide a fresh perspective under Howe’s management.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
