The conduct of the general elections in 2023 was marred by controversy as both the Labour Party’s Peter Gregory Obi and the PDP’s Alhaji Atiku Abubakar refused to accept loss after INEC announced Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the presidential election.

Since Peter Obi professes faith in God, David Umahi suggested that he, Atiku, and Tinubu work together to rebuild Nigeria and bring our people back together.
He spoke in fragments, saying:
“I plead with Nigerians, especially those who contested with them, our dear brother Peter Obi and the former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, to embrace the pact of peace, and accept victory because nothing can be except God says so. Victory of Shettima and Asiwaju came from God and since they believe in God, they should please join hands with Asiwaju to rebuild the nation, and reunite our people.”…
