Although governor Wike stated that he is not intending to leave the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in light of everything that transpired during the most recent election and his steadfast stance that Buhari should step down and enable someone from the south to take his place, the topic was raised.
When asked about his concern that he will soon leave office, Governor Wike said, “I ask,
“I’m I not aware that my (governorship) tenure is 8 years? I’m I just knowing today that my tenure is 8 years?. I fought a fight not because I don’t know I’m leaving, how many of them would fight that kind of fight? Your relevance is not whether you are formal governor or not.
