He said that in the early hours of Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at approximately 2 am, he was in a deep sleep after a long day, having gone to bed around 11 pm on October 31, 2023. He was awakened by loud bangs on the door, as he was startled, initially thinking it might be armed robbery due to the intense noise, gunshots and screams. He said his instinct believed they were being robbed, prompting him to swiftly escape to the roof of his hostel.

He said, “EFCC operatives arrested me after I came down from the roof to retrieve my gadgets because, after some time on the roof, it occurred to me that I had not secured my gadgets. So, I came down to secure my laptop and other valuables so that nothing would be stolen, then go back and hide in the roof. However, on my way down, I burst a water pipe but still got into the room.”

He said while he was attempting to return to the roof, water from the pipe came into contact with electric wires, shocking him when he tried to proceed. He opted to remain inside his room. Soon, the room began to flood, and he had to turn off the sockets to prevent electrocution, as he kept his phone and laptop with him, awaiting to be robbed or arrested.

While he was waiting, he texted his parents to explain to them what was going on, that his hostel was being raided.

He also texted a few friends because he had no idea what was going on at that particular moment, and while he was waiting for them to get to his room, one of the EFCC operatives got to him with the caretaker, and he was questioning him on the reason the light was not on and where the water was coming from.

He said, “I tried to explain to him that rain had damaged the roof, but he said I was lying and that I destroyed it while trying to escape. I told him yes, I was trying to hide but the roof had already been damaged.” CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
