The Niger State Police Command has launched an investigation into the murder of Gigi Danbaka, who was killed by unknown gunmen in Rafi Local Government Area.
According to a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X on Friday, the incident occurred on Thursday at about 2:00 p.m. when Danbaka and his family went to the bush along the Gabi-Alawa Road in Ringa District to pick mangoes.
“While returning home, the family was accosted by armed men who took Danbaka hostage but released his family members with a chilling message, ordering them to return later to retrieve his corpse,” Makama stated.
Security operatives and local vigilantes upon receiving the report at about 8:20 p.m., launched a search and rescue operation.
However, by the morning of Thursday, about 11:00 a.m., Danbaka’s lifeless body was discovered at the scene.
The police have assured the public that investigations are underway to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
