He stressed that despite the strategic importance of Kanem-Borno in the world’s history, Senator Shettima was the first person from Borno State to become the vice president of Nigeria since the country’s return to democracy in 1999, in what he called keenly contested general elections on February 25, 2023.
“I would like to agree with the advice of our highly respected former Heads of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (GCFR), General Abdulsalami Abubakar (GCFR), His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saad Abubakar III, and our highly respected elder statesman, the 98-year-old Alhaji TankoYakasai, who are highly patriotic and still making positive contributions for the peace, unity, security, progress and prosperity of our country Nigeria.
“All these four great leaders have congratulated the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and given him great homilies/advice. The Sultan of Sokoto said only God almighty and all-knowing gives leadership to whom He likes, and in Nigeria, He has given leadership to Tinubu. All the four leaders mentioned above advised Tinubu to form a government of national unity.
“May God give the President-elect and his Vice President-elect long life, good health, guidance, blessings and successful tenure in office,” he stated.
