Farouk Umar, National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, argued in a recent interview on Arise TV’s “News Night” programme that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is attacking Peter Obi despite the Independent National Electoral Commission (INECdeclaration )’s that they won the presidential election.
The APC is allegedly trying to damage Obi’s reputation because of the substantial number of votes he earned during the election, which the party had initially shrugged off, according to Farouk’s Arise News interview.

“They (APC) underrated the power of Nigerians in their desire to have good governance. To put it in proper context, they underrated the Obidient Movement.
Now, having gone to the ballots, having doctored the results through the help of INEC, an act we are contesting in a court of law, they have been left with no option but to start blaming and blackmailing Obi.”
Farouk went on to say that the APC’s attempt to discredit Obi is evidenced by the doctored audio recording of the conversation between Obi and Bishop Oyedepo. He cited this as a tactic to divert attention away from the election results. The Labour Party’s “excellent campaign” and the significant number of votes Obi received, he continued, are two things the party is attempting to hide from the public.
In his final statement, the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party claimed that the APC was assaulting everyone who voted against them in the polls, not just Obi.
