The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, is reportedly already playing the final card in the high-stakes power struggle that has engulfed Nigeria for the past six months, according to news that was posted by The Nation Newspaper online this morning.
According to reports, Godwin Emefiele, who disobeyed the Supreme Court’s ruling that the old N500 and N1000 notes should continue to be legal tender until December 31, is determined to affect the outcome of the March 18 governorship election in Lagos State, against the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC) and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu……CONTINUE READING
But, the assistance of a senior official was required to complete his scheme against the APC in Lagos and against Bola Tinubu.
The participation of a senior military officer in command of Lagos State, however, is believed to have been acquired by Emefiele in order to perfect his strategy against the APC in Lagos and against Bola Tinubu.
The commander is anticipated to lend military clout to the CBN Governor’s plans to oust the APC from power in Lagos, according to a source who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
During the presidential election on February 25, the same military commander is alleged to have taken a similar “spoiler role” by sending troops on purpose to give cover for the extensive rigging in the Ajah and Lekki areas in favor of Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party.
“Emefiele has contacted a military officer in Lagos to help Labour Party,” the insider claimed.
the source reported “To aid the Labour Party’s victory on Saturday, Emefiele has gotten in touch with a military officer in Lagos. This commander is also accused of providing cover for the widespread rigging that was reportedly taking place in the state’s Amuwo-Odofin, Ojo, Alaba, and Iba regions. For instance, under his command, soldiers imprisoned the Oniba of Ibaland inside his palace, ostensibly to stop him from urging his subjects to support Bola Tinubu. Similar invasions by troops occurred in Elegushi’s palace in Ikateland, where they were caught on camera brutally beating APC supporters. It is well known that Oba Saheed Elegushi is a fervent Tinubu supporter.”
