He was also said to have buried the dismembered body of his father in a shallow grave at their compound after committing the gruesome act.
According to the command, information was received at Kpakungu Division that the father, whose name was given as Abubakar Adawa, aged 65 years, was missing from his house at Barkin-Sale area of Minna, the state capital.
Following the information received, police operatives were said to have visited the house, after which Mizanmil Abubakar and his mother, Aisha Abubakar, were invited for interrogation.
The command wrote: “However, the whole compound was thoroughly searched, and the dismembered body of the man was discovered buried in a shallow grave within the compound.
“During interrogation, the said Mizanmil (son) confessed to being responsible for the gruesome act.
“He further confessed that his mother went out and instructed him to prepare food for the family pending her return. He said he served the meal of his father and laced it with rat poison, which the father ate and became unconscious and lifeless.”
The command added that after discovering that the father was lifeless, he took a hoe and knife, cut the the body into pieces, packed it in different sacks and buried it in a shallow grave within the compound.
“He disclosed that he perpetrated the act before the return of the mother and that his reason for killing him was that the deceased had much hatred for him,” the command added.
He was said to have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further interrogation and he is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
