Bauchi gov, Mohammed welcomes Obi, calls for patriotism, unity

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has reiterated his commitment to fostering unity and combating division in Nigeria. He made this statement after receiving the 2023 Labour Party Presidential Candidate and former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, along with his entourage, in Bauchi on Tuesday.
In a post on his X handle, Governor Mohammed expressed appreciation for Obi’s visit and commended his dedication to national development.

“I reiterated my unwavering commitment to fostering unity and combating division, emphasizing that patriotism remains the foundation of a brighter future for our nation,” he stated.

According to the governor, Obi’s engagement with key stakeholders and contributions to national discourse reflect his commitment to inclusive leadership.

“I commend Mr. Obi for his visit and acknowledge his dedication to nation-building and inclusive leadership,” he added.

Peter Obi, during the visit, explained that his primary purpose was to offer condolences over recent losses and engage in discussions on pressing national issues.

“This visit is to express my condolences, engage in meaningful discussions on national issues, and deepen consultations with relevant stakeholders,” Obi said.

The former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Nenadi Usman, and other dignitaries accompanied Obi during the visit.

As part of their engagements, the delegation paid homage to the Emir of Bauchi, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, at his palace. The visit, according to Governor Mohammed, reaffirmed their shared commitment to Nigeria’s progress and unity.

The meeting highlights ongoing efforts by political leaders across party lines to foster national cohesion amid rising political and economic challenges.
