Atiku Riplies to Nyesom Wike’s 2027 Presidential Remarks, Says He Would’ve Kept Ticket for Himself

According to the Daily Post, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has made a pointed rebuttal to remarks made by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), implying that Wike would have given himself the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket if he had the authority to do so.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

The exchange stems from Wike’s remarks on Wednesday during a press conference in Abuja, where he dismissed Atiku’s prospects of securing the PDP’s presidential nomination for 2027. Wike claimed that Atiku, the PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, was actively lobbying for another shot at the presidency but would be denied the opportunity.

“He is lobbying for another chance, but the chance will not be there. In which party? How can we rely on one man for so many years?” Wike said, casting doubt on Atiku’s future within the PDP.

Responding through his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku dismissed Wike’s claims, stating that the Minister’s remarks were rooted in political ambition and a misunderstanding of the party’s internal dynamics. Shaibu pointed out that if Wike had the ability to hand out presidential tickets, he would have kept one for himself, given his political aspirations.

“If he had the power to distribute presidential tickets like party favors, he’d certainly have kept one for himself,” Shaibu remarked, adding that Atiku had “schooled him and his protégé” in the 2019 election. Shaibu also reminded Wike of Atiku’s resounding victory in the PDP primaries in 2023, where he defeated Wike and his allies.

Shaibu continued, “Atiku thoroughly schooled him and his chosen protégé in his own backyard ahead of the 2019 election and then handed him a resounding defeat in the 2023 primaries in Abuja.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
