Cairo spoke on the subject and remarked,
“I and Godswill Akpabio are quite close, and I know that the APC should zone the senate presidency to the south-east because the South-South has produced the president and the vice president. The South-South and South East have previously produced the SGF, but I believe that the SGF is the best thing to give to the South-South right now.
He added, “We hope that it goes to Delta State, particularly to the Itsekiri, who are the natural partners of the Yorubas. There are experienced senators from Itsekiri who can handle that position. It is a family affair, and I urge the President-elect and our party, the APC, to take the issue seriously because it can affect the party’s success……
