The Super Eagles have yet to begin training camp, which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 6th.
The team list is extensive, and the top European strikers are given the opportunity to don the Super Eagles jersey.
To justify the health of squad depth in the list, there are still some issues to be raised.
Since the group rounds of the AFCON competition in Cameroon in 2021, the Super Eagles have not impressed as they should have, which is cause for concern.
If the Super Eagles are to have a chance to compete for titles in the future, Jose Peseiro needs fresh players to fill in two key positions, in my opinion.
1. The position of goalkeeper
The Super Eagles still lack a reliable number one to play the position after Vincent Enyeama left the national team.
There have been numerous goalkeepers for the Super Eagles, but none have been able to win over the support of the crowd.
In order to find new goalkeepers with the ability to handle the post area correctly, Jose Peseiro should search both within the league and outside of it.
2. The defensive middle
The defensive midfield is a position that has evolved, not just any position. This role has been redefined by players like Rodri, Casemiro, Declan Rice, and Partey, thus it is expected that the Super Eagles would treat it seriously.
The Super Eagles have not yet established themselves as a defensive midfield force. Finding a Super Eagles player who can hold the ball, make tackles, duels, and ball recoveries successfully, as well as make crucial passes forward, is Jose Peseiro’s top priority.
