The celebration, however, was short-lived when VAR intervened and disallowed the goal because Kepa was fouled during the buildup. Not to be outdone, Joselu of Celta also experienced disappointment as his goal, scored just before halftime, was overturned due to a clear offside.
In the second half, Madrid stepped up their offensive attempts, and their perseverance paid off when Villar fouled Rodrygo, giving them a chance to score a penalty.
Despite the misstep, the Celta goalkeeper saved the penalty kick to earn himself some credit. The game’s turning point occurred in the 81st minute when Bellingham took advantage of a corner and headed the ball into the goal from close range to give his team a vital three points.
With this triumph, Madrid keeps its perfect run of three victories in a row, securing their place atop the league standings.
While Celta continues to seek their first victory of the season, their management is hoping for success in their forthcoming game against Almeria. Getafe is their next opponent.
