After The Council Of State Passed A Vote Of Confidence In Tinubu's Leadership, Doyin Okupe Reacts

Following the Council of State’s vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, Doyin Okupe, the former director general of the Obi-Datti Campaign Council, responded.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Doyin Okupe stated on his verified Twitter page on Wednesday; “The Council of states meeting is a constitutional meeting of past leaders and current leaders presided over by the current President. It is basically a forum where the current leadership presents its scorecard and challenges privately to the former leaders, whose roles are basically Advisory.”

He added; “Past President’s and leaders are not expected to be partisan or portray any form of activism. So when people talk about ” talking truth to power” it must be understood that in the comity of such elders , radicalism has no place.”

He noted; “I have had the privilege of attending several council of states meetings in the past in observer status as a presidential aide. Candid and frank discussions on issues do take place under a very matured atmosphere. Never confrontational or derogatory to the presiding officer, out of share respect for that exalted office , which they themselves previously occupied.”

He noted; “Those who quarrel with the vote of confidence passed on President Tinubu’s leadership after the council of state meeting, completely misunderstood the role of elders in society. ”
