The head of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, has said that the government is aware of the individuals responsible for the kidnapping and banditry occurring in several areas of Northern Nigeria. Adebanjo questioned how Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, an Islamic cleric in Kaduna, knows where the terrorists are and bargains with the names of people kidnapped by criminal elements, during a Saturday interview with The Sun. He said, “So all the banditry and kidnapping happening in Zamfara State and other parts of the North, the perpetrators are known to the government. How come Gumi knows where the terrorists are and negotiates with the list of those abducted? He goes to the camp of the terrorists and comes out, not once, not twice, but on many occasions.
“And the military are telling us they don’t know where the terrorists are. I don’t want to talk about it anymore. President Bola Tinubu has to clear his name because all these are on record.”
Chief Adebanjo said that even those embezzling money in the petroleum industry are also known by the government. He urged President Tinubu to go after those people because that is the only way to solve the problem in the country.
