On October 30, 2023, Fubara talked about how 27 lawmakers who supported Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike planned to remove him from office. While praising President Bola Tinubu for starting peace efforts, the governor said that some groups were not really trying to solve the problem.
“We went to Abuja, and Mr. President set some conditions for peace because he knew how important peace was for Rivers State,” Fubara said. “We came back here in this state to take care of everything that has to do with safety and peace.”
We went to court right away and dropped our cases. You call yourself honourable, but you can’t even follow easy directions. I behaved in a respectable way. I found out that I wasn’t being attacked by the guy who started the peace. The governor thanked the people of Rivers and his followers, saying that they were very important in getting through the tough times of the past year. This is where I am because of all of you. “A great many people might not know what happened on October 30, 2023,” he said. Fubara talked about his government’s progress, even though there was resistance, by pointing to successful appointments and ongoing building projects. He also talked about how Rivers State was praised for being open and responsible by an outside group. Fubara asked, “Who is the loser?” as he thought about how strong his government was. It’s clear why you should praise God’s justice, right?” The governor said again that he was committed to peace and good government.
