General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defense Staff, has disclosed how the Lukarawas terrorist organization entered Nigeria from the Niger Republic. He emphasized that seven Nigerian states, which have close cultural, religious, and social links to their neighbors, share a 1,500-kilometer border with Niger.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

The CDS explained that initially, some individuals from Nigeria welcomed the Lukarawas, who entered the country unarmed, under the pretense of friendship. He however stated that the situation deteriorated when the Lukarawas began to demand payments for their presence from the locals.

He said in an interview with Arise TV, “We share about 1,500 km border with Niger Republic and seven Nigerian States have common affinity, common religion, common cultures together with Niger. So it’s difficult for you to separate that. So some people from this area brought the Lukarawas in as friends to come and stay, they were not armed then.

And then when they came in, you know they told them that they didn’t have any problem with them and that they had problem was with Niger Republic. So the people accepted them and kept them in. And then they were showing them that since the government is too far away, I’m here and I have some funds, I could give you money to do this. And later they now turned around and say, ‘Okay, now you still have to pay for us being here’ because they couldn’t get enough funds.

And that’s where the problem started. It was only when that started that the cry came out, right. So now we are reacting to that, and I can tell you that operations are ongoing. We’re taking them out completely and we’re working together with Republic of Niger.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
