Senator Akpabio expressed the belief that given the resources available in Rivers State, a governor should not end up in conflict with their House of Assembly without being able to win over at least one member from the opposing group. He also emphasized the need to move away from a culture of betrayal in politics, which he believes undermines effective governance.
He said in a media coverage by Channels TV, ‘I do hope that the successor to Nyesom Wike realizes that no matter how the bird flies, the legs are pointing to the ground. Sometimes I wonder, as a politician, that I will never have been a governor given the resources of Rivers State, and then I disagree with my house and I’m not able to take at least one member out of the other group. So, if I don’t do that, it means there’s something wrong with my political philosophy.
So, I don’t care what people say, but we must try to stop this politics of betrayal and politics of treachery, because it does not even allow for good succession.
