“This project is a powerful declaration that we are committed to turning our non-oil resources into collective prosperity,” Tinubu declared, highlighting the project’s focus on diversifying the economy and leveraging Nigeria’s agricultural potential.

The President emphasized the critical role of the South-South region in driving the nation’s transition from an oil-dependent economy to one fueled by agriculture and innovation.

Renowned for its rich natural resources and fertile land, the region has the capacity to redefine Nigeria’s economic trajectory.

“The South-South is open for business, and so is the rest of Nigeria,” Tinubu said.

He invited both local and international investors to explore the opportunities within the region, urging a shift from traditional foreign aid to strategic partnerships that promote innovation and sustainable growth.

He described the South-South as “a hub of untapped resources and extraordinary human talent,” stressing that the region’s contribution to agriculture could make Nigeria a significant player in global markets.

Tinubu outlined the transformative goals of Project Earn from the Soil, which include moving Nigeria from subsistence farming to an export-driven agricultural economy.

He assured that the initiative would address food security challenges while creating millions of economic opportunities for Nigerians.

“Our vision is clear: By 2025, we will position Nigeria as a leading agricultural export nation,” Tinubu asserted, reaffirming his administration’s readiness to provide the necessary support to ensure the project’s success.

A core aspect of the initiative is the empowerment of Nigerian youth and women, whom Tinubu described as essential drivers of the country’s economic transformation.

“Young people from the South-South are the backbone of the transformation that is about to begin here. Your energy, creativity, and determination will drive Nigeria’s economic revolution,” Tinubu stated, encouraging active participation from these groups.

The President emphasized that Project Earn from the Soil aligns with his broader Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes economic diversification, sustainable development, and restoring public confidence.

“My promise to Nigerians was to restore and renew their hope and confidence in their ability to excel. That promise is being fulfilled today,” he added.

Hon. Gift Johnbull, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South-South), also addressed the event, praising the region’s vast untapped economic potential.
