Reaction to Report of Former Government Official Forfeiting 753-Duplex Estate: Shehu Sani

Senator Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker who served in the 8th National Assembly as the representative for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has expressed astonishment at the degree of poor management that let a government official to illegally purchase an astounding 753 duplexes.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

His reaction followed a news report that broke this morning indicating that a Federal High Court, sitting in Abuia, had ordered an unnamed former government official to forfeit a sprawling estate located in the Lokogoma District of Abuja, covering 150,500 square meters and housing 753 duplexes and apartments, to the federal government.

The ruling, delivered by Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie on Monday, December 2, 2024, affirmed the forfeiture of the estate situated on Plot 109, Cadastral Zone C09, following the EFCC’s invocation of Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act No. 14, 2006, and Section 44 (2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution.

According to the judge, the former government official, under investigation for allegedly funding the estate with proceeds of fraud, had failed to prove ownership through legitimate means.
