Governor Fubara emphasized that he would implement the commission’s recommendations, regardless of the individuals involved.

He expressed his determination to eradicate what he termed “unreasonable violence in politics,” stressing that politics should be a peaceful contest of ideas, free from permanent enemies or allies.

He further pledged that the state would not tolerate any form of political violence going forward.

The governor also commended the commission for its resilience in completing the report, despite facing legal challenges and other obstacles.

The Chairman of the seven-member commission, Justice Ibiwengi Minakiri, provided details of the report’s compilation process, which included visits to affected local government areas such as Khana, Eleme, Ikwerre, Emohua, and Obio/Akpor.

The commission’s findings were based on verified claims from submitted memoranda.

Justice Minakiri concluded that some individuals indicted in the report failed to appear for their defense.

The report, which was completed on November 28, was presented in four volumes, including memoranda, exhibits, and records of proceedings.

Justice Minakiri urged Governor Fubara to implement the recommendations to restore lasting peace to Rivers State.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
