Five of the seven service chiefs that President Bola Tinubu chose were Christians, according to Cletus Obun, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress. He emphasized that Nigeria’s political landscape is built on the foundations of ethnicity, religion, equity, and gender sensitivity, as well as youth inclusivity. However, he pointed out a significant gap in the reward system for individuals who have demonstrated capability and commitment to the victory of the President in the 2023 election.

He said in an interview with Arise TV, “The president has a duty to ensure that the principle of federal character is upheld. And he did that very well when he appointed the service chiefs. Out of the 7 service chiefs that the president appointed, five of them were Christians. And this was against the thinking that this government was going to be a Muslim-Muslim thing.

So our polity is placed upon the tripod of ethnicity, religion, and equity. And also on the basis of religion, ethnicity, and gender sensitivity and youth inclusivity.
