Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra on Tuesday accused the Bola Tinubu administration of abandoning loyal party members in the state in the sharing of federal appointments.
The group, operating under the APC Anambra State Liberation Movement, spoke at a press conference held in Abuja where it alleged systematic marginalisation of party faithful in the state.
The members said federal appointment slots meant for APC loyalists were allegedly given to non-party members and individuals from rival political parties.
They claimed that the ministerial slot for Anambra was ceded to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and that the managing director of the South East Development Commission was also appointed from APGA.
The group further alleged that recent ambassadorial nominations from Anambra did not include known APC members in the state.
“At this rate, we fell we have been abandoned. But, recognizing and empowering loyal party members will not only rekindle hope but also strengthen the APC’s structure in Anambra, expand our reach, and motivate members across all wards and local governments.
“We are confident that such inclusive consideration will restore confidence, deepen commitment, and position APC Anambra for greater electoral success,” the group said.
They said the situation has weakened morale and discouraged party loyalists who have worked for years to build the party at the grassroots.
“We are not invalidating their qualifications. Our concern is simply that loyal APC stakeholders who have risked their safety, invested their personal resources, and stood courageously with the party deserve recognition and reward.
“Many of us have suffered harassment and attacks for identifying with APC. Some had their homes burnt down; others stayed away from their hometowns due to threats from extremists who labeled us “saboteurs.’. Yet we kept faith with the party, the group stated.
The group accused senior federal appointees from Anambra of working against the APC during the November governorship election.
They said support expected from key federal officials to strengthen APC structures in Anambra had been minimal or non-existent.
The group appealed to the national leadership of the APC and the presidency to prioritise loyal party members in future federal appointments from the state.
They submitted a list of party stakeholders they said deserved consideration for appointments.
The members said their call was not to discredit those already appointed but to seek fairness and internal justice within the party.
They reaffirmed their loyalty to the APC and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
