Onyinye Chukwunyere: PDP Was Notorious For Rigging Election, Tinubu’s APC Has Taken It To A New Level

Speaking in an interview with The Independent, Chukwunyere alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has refined election malpractice to an alarming level, surpassing the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) historical reputation for rigging.

 

According to Chukwunyere, the APC’s approach to elections is a deliberate effort to consolidate power and suppress opposition voices.

 

When asked about the possibility of a one-party state under the APC, he remarked, “We have always maintained that what you have in Nigeria are not elections, but charades designed to hoodwink the people into thinking they have some say in the leadership selection process.”

“The People Democratic Party (PDP) was notorious for rigging elections, but Tinubu’s APC has taken election fraud to a new level.”

 

He elaborated on what he described as the APC’s “state capture model,” claiming that the ruling party manipulates election outcomes from behind closed doors.

 

“They simply write results in hotel rooms, bribe compromised election and security officials, announce the fraudulent results, and dare you to go to court. They claim victory across all local government areas, a bizarre fit totally incongruous with their unpopularity across the country,” he alleged.

 

Chukwunyere further accused the APC of seeking absolute dominance over the political landscape, not merely to govern but to silence dissent entirely. He described the party’s actions as the hallmark of a leadership that disrespects democratic principles and engages in unchecked abuse of power.

 

“The APC desires more than a one-party state. They want to govern a defeated and voiceless people so that no one will challenge their cluelessness in governance and the serial looting of public resources,” he declared.
